The story of Jawdat Slik Sweets began in 1918, when our great-grandfather, the company’s founder, decided to start making traditional Damascene jams, chocolates, Turkish delight, kaab el-ghazal, and sesame sweets.
At that time, chocolate was made by hand using ready-made and imported chocolate bars, which were melted and then transformed into small pieces of chocolate. Our grandfather maintained the special and distinctive flavor of Slik chocolate, and all of this took place in an old Damascene house in the Salihiyah neighborhood.
In 1979, our father, Mohamed Haytham Slik, decided to establish a modern chocolate factory while preserving the same original flavor. He used advanced machines to grind the chocolate and named the factory “Chocolate Slik”. This operation continued until 2005.
After that, Mohamed Haytham Slik decided to start a new and advanced phase, and he directed his son in this field, Mr. Talal Haytham Slik, who followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in maintaining quality, enhancing the original flavor, and developing the name “Chocolate Slik” day after day. Production machines had to be upgraded to ensure the best quality ever and preserve Chocolate Slik’s distinctive name and rich flavor.
Thanks to his efforts and good management, Mr. Talal Haytham Slik has given the name “Chocolate Slik” a prestigious position, taking its place in local and international markets by participating in major international exhibitions held in Syria, Iraq, Germany, Ukraine, Dubai, and Lebanon, achieving an important presence for himself as one of the most important international chocolate makers.
Today, “Chocolate Slik” offers more than 190 varieties added to its original range, and has succeeded in achieving distinctive and prestigious reputation in the Middle East, North Africa, and international markets, while committed to applying the highest quality standards.
“Chocolate Slik” is considered the number 1 chocolate in Syria and a name that every Syrian is proud of. Mr. Talal Haytham Slik is considered the godfather of “Chocolate Slik” thanks to his passion and continuous efforts to always remain at the forefront of excellence.
